Savannah Storm 155 Georgia Grizzlies 81


The Savannah Storm defeated the Georgia Grizzlies 155-81 at the Savannnah High School Gym Thursday afternoon at the Businessman Special game. The game schelduled to start at 4:30, was delayed almost an hour for the arrival of a couple of the Grizzlies's players-they wound up short handed with seven players.

The Storm used their fast break offense along with their tenacious full court pressure defense to wear down the Grizzlies.

Leading scorer for the Storm for the second consecutive game was Josh Walker with 35 points. Guard Ben Chisholm scored 25 points. Center Sherard Reddick had another stellar performance , with 19 points and a game high 14 rebounds.

The next Storm game is at Savannah High on January 8, 2011 against the Heartland Prowl.

Storm Home Thursday


The Savannah Storm return home Thursday(12-30-10) to play the Georgia Grizzlies with the Businessman Special game starting at 4:30pm at the Savannah High School Gym.

Savannah Storm General Manager, Ed Devita, announces that fans can get a Savannah Morning News newspaper on Thursday and look in the sports section for a coupon and bring the coupon to the game and get a General Admission ticket for only $5.oo.

Jacksonville Giants 133 Savannah Storm 108


The re-match game between the Jacksonville Giants and the Savannah Storm was played Sunday evening at the beautiful Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Giants won the game 133-108. The Storm played well and played good defense limiting the Giants to 133 points. Their first four games, Jacksonville averaged 163 points a game.

Leading scorer for the Storm was 6'-4" guard/forward Josh Walker who scored 27 points. Storm 6'-8" center, Sherard Reddick, had another outstanding game contributing 25 points and grabbing a game high 16 rebounds.

Brandon Russ, 6'-8" forward was co-leader in leading the Giants in scoring with 21 points(he made 9 field goals out of 10 attempts). Nick Wallery, 6'-7" forward also scored 21 points.

For the game, Jacksonville shot 73 free throws compaired to 34 free throws for the Storm. The Giants shot 46.8% from the field.

Playing his first game for Jacksonville was 7 foot center, Dakin Braddick, giving the team 3 players 7' or taller.

Storm Hit The Road


The Savannah Storm play their next game against the Jacksonville Giants on December 26, 2010 at the Veterans Memorial Arena. The rematch game starts at 7:00pm.

According to the Jacksonville Giants web site, the game on December 26th with the Storm-when fans buy any seat they will get one seat free. The price for the tickets range from $8 to $150(for floor seats just like "Jack" in LA. ).

The Jacksonville Giants are undefeated so far this season with a record of 4-0. The last game for the Giants was with Fayetteville Flight whom they beat 151-94.

Savannah Storm vs. Jacksonville Giants

The Storm returns to Jacksonville to play the Giants on December 26, 2010 with tip off at 7:00pm.

During the last meeting, I had the opportunity to meet Robin Timothy, Assistant General Manager at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Mrs. Timothy and the
staff at the arena do a great job to make sure the fans have an enjoyable experience at the beautiful arena.

Coach Concepcion reports the Storm(4-1) is ranked number 13th in the ABA.

Savannah Storm 107 Fayetteville Flight 99


The Savannah Storm beat the Fayetteville Flight 107 to 99 Saturday evening at the Savannah High School Gymnasium.

The Storm utilized their fast break offense to build a lead in the first quarter 36-19.

Leading scorer for the Storm was 6'-8" center, Sherard Reddick, who scored 31 points and grabbed a game high 18 rebounds. Leon Frazier, JR. scored 22 points, Josh Walker scored 18, and Xavier Blaine-Cruz added 17.

The Flight made several comeback attempts in the game to get close, but the Storm managed to pull away and win the game.

The next game for the Storm is Sunday(12-19-10) against the Seven City Knights starting at 3:00pm at Savannah High.

Busy Weekend for the Storm


The Savannah Storm practiced for two hours Wednesday evening at the Savannah High School Gym. The team is working hard getting ready for two home games this weekend.

The Storm will play the Fayetteville Flight from Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday. The game will start at 7pm and will be played at the Savannah High School Gymnasium.

Sunday basketball fans can watch the Storm play Seven City Knight, an afternoon game starting at 3:00pm at the Savannah High Gym.

Jacksonville Giants 151 Savannah Storm 90


The Savannah Storm played their first road game Sunday evening against the hot shooting Jacksonville Giants at Veterans Memorial Arena.

For the game the Storm was 34 for 89 shooting field goals for 38.2%; 5 for 30 shooting 3 point shots for 16.7%; and made 17 out of 33 free throws for 51.5.%

The Giants our rebounded the Storm 68 to 43.

Leading scorer for the Storm was Joshua Walker with 21 points and 6'-8" center Sherard Reddick added 17 points and collected a team high of 9 rebounds.

The Giants were led in scoring by 7 foot center Jermaine Bell who scored 27 followed by 6'-4" guard Edward Horton with 24 points.

Savannah Storm vs. Jacksonville Giants

The team practiced three hours this morning(Saturday) at the Rec Center in Pooler in preparation for their first road game tomorrow evening. Tip off time Sunday is 7pm at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Jacksonville Giants(2-0) won their first two home games beating the San Francisco Rumble(they had 5 players) 182-124 and beating the traveling team from Miami, the Haiti Relief, 168-84.

Savannah Storm 133 Jacksonville UBal 109


The San Francisco Rumble was schelduled to play the Savannah Storm Monday at 6:30 at Savannah High School Gym, but the Rumble did not show. As a replacement team, the Jacksonville UBall team was called and seven players arrived to play the Storm with the game starting at 9:15.

The Storm full-court pressure and bench scoring proved to be too much for the Jacksonville team. The Storm bench scored 87 points compaired to 14 points scored by the Jacksonville bench.

Leading scorer for the Storm was Xavier Blain-Cruz who scored 23 and Bernard Dixon added 20. D. J. Henley and Josh Walker each grabbed 9 rebounds.

Brad Clark led Jacksonville in scoring with 31 points.

The announced attendance was 350.

Storm vs Rumble


Savannah Storm head coach Ed Concepcion and assistant coach Patricia Huiginga lead the players thru a 3 hour workout Sunday morning as they prepare for their home opener tomorrow night at 6:30 with the San Francisco Rumble at Savannah High School Gym.

The Rumble lost to the Jacksonville Giants Saturday night 182-124. San Francisco was only able to bring 5 players to the game. Jacksonville uitilized 3 point shooting, full-court press, and a fast break offense to rout the Rumble. San Francisco was led by Isaiah Sandoval who scored 33 points and garnered 15 rebounds. The crowd was estimated at 4,000 for the Jacksonville debut at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Storm Getting ready for Home Opener


The Savannah Storm practiced Saturday morning at the Recreational Center in Pooler. The team looked sharp during the three hour practice session.

Storm Practice@Savannah High School


The Savannah Storm team practiced for 2 hours Thursday evening at the Savannah High School Gymnasium as they prepare for their opening game next week. The team worked on their offensive sets and also concentrated on defense. Players participated in shooting drills and scrimaged full court.

The game with the Columbus Life set for December 5th has been cancelled.

The Storm will open the season on Monday, December 6th, 2010 against the San Francisco Rumble, who are ranked as the 3rd best team in the ABA. All 16 Storm home games will be played at the Savannah High School Gym.

Storm Practice @ Pooler


Savannah Storm head basketball coach, Ed Gonzales Concepcion, demonstrates to his players how to run an offensive set during 3 hour plus practice Sunday morning at the Recreational Center in Pooler. The players started the practice by stretching and exercising followed by drills. One team ran the high/low offense against another teams zone defense. The players divided into three teams and took turns scrimiging agaist each other.

The first game of the season for the Storm is on the road December 5, 2010 against the Columbus Life in Columbus. Georgia. The Storm will play their first home game on December 6, 2010 at the Savannah High School Gym against the 3rd ranked team in the ABA, the San Francisco Rumble.

Dixon Shines Playing with Legends.


The Harlem Legends defeated the Coastal Fellowship of Christian Athletics All-Star team Sunday afternoon at Armstrong Atlantic State's Alumni Arena.

Seven former members of the Harlem Globetrotters played for the Harlem Legends. Savannah Storm forward, Bernard Dixon, helped to lead the Legends to victory. Dixon scored 28 points for the game: 18 points in the first half(8 dunks) and 10 points in the second half(4 dunks). The 6'-7" Dixon showed basketball fans his jumping ability with an array of slam dunks.

It was reported that the Celebrity Basketball game drew around 1,000 fans and raised approximately $8,000.

Dixon to Play with Globetrotters


The Felowship of Christian Athletics will hold its first FCA-Harlem Legends Shootout Celebrity basketball game at 4pm Sunday at the Armstrong Athletic State Alumni arena.

The all-star team, which consists of local coaches and pastors will play the Harlem All-Stars- a group of seven former Globetrotters.

Savannah Storm General Manager, Ed DeVita, announced this afternoon, that 6'-7" Storm forward, Bernard Dixon, will play for the Globetrotters. Dixon is very athletic, has great leaping ability, and his potential is unlimited.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 if purchased at the gate.

Practice 11-3-10


The Savannnah Storm had the weekend off from practice and returned to the hardwood Wednesday evening for two hours of practice at the Recreational Center in Richmond Hill.

The team streched before working on several drills. Players played hard and rough on defense during the full court scrimmage , as the team prepares for the start of league play.

The Storm first game of the year is on the road at Columbus on December 5th, 2010 and they play their first home game at Savannah High School on December 6th, 2010 against the San Francisco Rumble(ranked as the third best team in the ABA).

San Francisco Rumble


The Savannah Storm play their first home game against the San Francisco Rumble on December 6, 2010 at the Savannah High School. Currently the Rumble is ranked as the 3rd best team in the ABA(over 80 teams ).

The San Francisco webb site lists the average height of the team at 6'-5". Only one player is listed under 6' and he is 5'-7". Three players are 6'-9". The average age of the team is 27.85.

Leon Frazier


This month(16&17th) the Washington Wizards of the NBA invited 60 basketball players to attend their arena for a two day try out. Savannah Storm guard, Leon Frazier(#11) was one of the invites. Leon said they usually invite several hundred to try out. After the two day try out, the Wizards would sign one player to a 10 day contract.

Leon entered the try out with an injury to his leg which he injured at a Storm practice on Sunday, a week before the event. He was limited in his performance due to the injury and the Wizards will invite him back for another try out when he is healthy. Leon was home recovering and was not able to attend the Storm practice on Sunday.

Outdoor Practice


The Savannah Storm Professional Basketball team held practice Sunday(10-24-10) on an outdoor court at the Rec Center in Pooler.

The team worked on drills including an in-bounds play and scrimmaged half court. The team practiced for about an hour and half, before being stopped due to rain.

Reminiscence years ago of playing basketball on the playgrounds with Dave Downey and the guys on the courts in Illinois.

Storm Season Tickets


Basketball fans be sure and capitalize on the early bird special Savannah Storm season ticket sale before it expires in a few weeks. The cost for 16 home games for the season pass is $100.00, a savings of $60. A couple of more games could be added to the schedule which would save even more money.

Storm Practice at Pooler(10-17-10)


The Savannah Storm Professional Basketball team practiced Sunday for three hours at the Recreational Center in Pooler. The team worked on fast break drills, a motion/pic offense drill and scrimmaged half court and full court. Coaches and the General Manager have been meeting with the players individually this month, to give each player an evaluation as to their progress since they joined the team. The team is making progress every week with their three practices a week schedule.

Heather Friend, Host


The weekly Savannah Storm television program can be seen Saturday evening at 6:00pm on the CW Network on channel 13. The host this week is Heather Friend. Heather attended Savannah College of Art and Design from 2005 to 2009 and played on the volleyball team. This May Heather received her Masters Degree in Graphic Design at SCAD and she assists the 2010 volleyball team.

Wednesday evening(10-13-10) the Storm team practiced for two hours at the Recerational Center in Richmond Hills. The team worked on several fast break drills followed by scrimagging. Coaches Huisinga and Concepcion intruppted play on occasions to teach offensive/defensive tips.

Storm Practice(10-3-10)


Sunday morning from 9:00-12:00 the Savannah Storm held practice at the Recreational Center in Pooler. The team schrimaged and participated in defensive drills with coach Concepcion giving instructions on defensive techniques.

On the sideline during practice, trainner Todd Norris, kept busy treating players injuries-shown working on Mike's foot and ankle. Todd is a Certified Active Release Provider at Titus Sports Chiropractic.

Savannah Storm announced a new time for their weekly show, 'Fast Break", a look at the professional basketball team, the Savannah Storm. The show moves from Saturday at 11:00am to Saturday evening at 6:00pm on the CW Network on Channel 13.

Haley Norris, Moderator


Basketball fans watching this weeks segment of "Fast Break", a look at the Savannah Storm professional Basketball team, will see Haley Norris serving as moderator. Haley is twelve years old, is in the 7th grade, and attends Garrison Performing Arts Academy.

Wednesday evening the Savannah Storm team participated in a two hour practice at the gymnasium on Timber Trail in Richmond Hills. The team worked on shooting drills, fastbreak drills, and scrimaging.

New Storm Player


Xavier Blaine-Cruz attended his first basketball practice today(9-26-10) as a new member of the Savannah Storm. He attended high school in North Carolina. From 2005 to 2009, Xavier played for Savannah College of Art and Design. He played basketball on a traveling team for a week that played in China. This August, Xavier played on a team that traveled to Estonia.

New Storm Player


Today(9-26-10) the Savannah Storm held a three hour practice session at the Recreational Center in Pooler. Sherarad Reddick , a 6'-8" center, attended his first workout as a new team member. He played his high school basketball at Windsor Forrest in Savannah. From 2001 t0 2005, he played for Savannah State University. For one season he played in a semi-pro league(WBA) in Macon, Georgia.

Storm Helps Community


The Savannah Storm Basketball players were at Center Court at the Savannah Mall today(9-25-10) from 1:30 to 3:30 pm participating in "Pool for Pets."

Fans and shoppers at the mall made a $2.00 donation to play a game of pool with a Storm player. The money collected was donated to the Chatham Co. Humane Society. Several fans won their pool match and collected a prize.

Storm New Player


Last night the Savannah Storm practiced at the recreational center in Pooler. Bernard Dixon is a new addition to the team. He played for Groves High School. Bernard is very athletic, has great leaping ability, and was a standout during the scrimage.

The team started out working on post up moves in the low blocks, shooting drills, scrimaging, followed by free throw shooting.

Storm New Player


The Savannaah Storm held a practice last evening at the Pooler Rec. Center. Zach Davis joined the team. He played high school basketball at Providence Christian for two years. Zach attended Georgia Northwestern Tech College for two years.

Storm Moderator


Last Saturday Kyle Merrill made his debut as moderator on "Fast Break" a look at the Professional Basketball team, the Savannah Storm. Kyle received his Masters Degree in Architect from Savannah College of Art and Design. While at SCAD, he played on the lacrosse team. Kyle is checking out the job market in Macon, Georgia.

Storm adds player


D. J. Henley joined the Savannah Storm team Sunday and participated in the Storm practice at the Recreational Center in Pooler. Henley played the past two years for the Alanta Vision in the ABA league. He graduated from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama with a BA in Accounting and works for WSAV-TV in the Accounting department.

The Storm practiced several hours Sunday working on their motion offense. They practiced passing and screening drills followed by scrimaging.

General Manager, Ed DeVita and Head Coach Eddie Gonalzez Concepcion state they are looking to add a couple of "tall" players to the squad. Their are no seven footers on the team at the present.

Kaylin Norris


You can see the name of Kaylin Norris on the credits of the program "Fast Break", the weekly program of the Professional Basketball team, the Savannah Storm seen on the CW network. On the show, Kaylin makes introductions and comments.

The nine year old Kaylin, is in the 4th grade and is school home bound. She keeps busy spending 21 hours a week participating in gymnastics and is currently at level 7.

"Fast Break" can be seen every Saturday morning at 11:00am on channel 13. Some fans may see the program on channel 34, depending on your TV package.

Storm at Energy Oasis


Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, the Savannah Storm Professional Basketball players can be seen at the Energy Oasis(Health Club and Day Spa) located in Richmond Hills.

In the center of the picture, Katie King personalized trainner, gives instructions to players as they participate in the circuit trainning(players exercise at one station and then move to another station).

Other exercises the players participate in during the week include, yoga, pilates, mixed martial arts, and manual endurance. Very impressive.

When league play begins, the Savannah Storm may be the best conditioned team in the league.

Storm Practice


The Savannah Storm held a practice Wednesday evening(9-1-10) at the Recrational Center in Pooler. Head coach Eddie Gonzales Concepcion and Assistant coach Patricia Huisinga guided the players in exercises, shooting drills and scrimiaging drills.

After two hours of practice, the team was invited to the Holiday Inn in Pooler to view the premiere of "Fast Break: an inside look at the Savannah Storm Basketball." The video was shown today, Saturday, on WGSA-CW on channel 13. The Storm program can be seen every week thru out the season at 11:00 am on the CW Network.

Storm on Television


Savannah Storm General Manager, Ed DeVita, announces the premiere of "Fast Break: an inside look at Savannah Storm Basketball". Storm Practice

The players worked out for several hours participating in various drills and scrimmaging.

Coach Concepcion spent a great deal of time teaching and giving his players instructions.

The practice took place today, Sunday(8-29-10) at the Recreational Center in Pooler.

Early Bird Special


Basketball fans can still take advantage of the early bird sale on tickets offered by the Professional Basketball team, the Savannah Storm.

Fifteen home games cost $100.00, which is a $50 savings. The first home game is December 4, 2010 and all home games will be played at Savannah High School Gymnasium.

Savannah Storm Reception


The Savannah Storm held a reception Saturday afternoon at the downtown Hampton Inn and Suites. General Manager, Ed DeVita, was the MC and started the program by introducing the guest speaker, City Councilman, Johnson.

The team members were introduced individually by DeVita and several players received a loud applause by the family members and friends in attendance,which prompted DeVita to say,"those jerseys are now on sale."

DeVita introduced the new basketball coach of the Savannah Storm, Eddie Gonzales Concepcion, who said he was pleased thus far with the practices he has held and that the players play hard and hustle. Coach Concepcion said, "no team will out hustle us".

Welcome to Savannah Storm Basketball


Welcome to the world of the Savannah Storm, the professional basketball team in Savannah, Georgia. It is in the ABA which has 70 teams across the United States. The Storm will play 15 home games and 15 road games. The first home game is December 4, 2010 and all of the home games will be played at Savannah High School. The Storm web site is savstorm.com.

Savannah Storm Season Tickets

The Savannah Storm Pro Basketball team announces their early bird season tickets are now on sale. The cost for 15 home games is $100, a $50 savings. You can purchase your tickets by contacting the Savannah Storm website(savstorm.com).
